A new and distinctive species of Micropagurus McLaughlin, 1986 discovered from French Polynesia, is described as M. bijdeleyi n. sp. This new species is distinguished from the other five known species in this genus by having a prominent, spinose interocular lobe, and a telson with a straight terminal margin. This species is the sixth known in the genus, and the second
known to occur in French Polynesia. Whereas previously known species of Micropagurus range from the intertidal to 55 m, M. bijdeleyi n. sp. ranges from 80 to 262 m in depth.
